Briefly describe your role and how you got connected to it.
I am going to be teaching middle schoolers English on a large island off the coast of Barcelona Spain. I am going to be talking to them in English and sharing my language and experiences with them through games and activities. I learned about this opportunity through the Career Development Center! I was working with a Career Counselor to identify opportunities abroad and the Meddeas posted a role on SJUcareers. The Career Counselor made me aware of the posting and I decided to apply.
How did your SJU education impact your professional goals?
I studied abroad in Spain and developed a love for the language and the country. Because of this I knew that after graduation I needed to go back. Through my time at SJU I developed a passion for meeting many new and different kinds of people. This fostered my love of traveling and experiencing new things.
Did you participate in any experiential learning activities while at SJU?
As I mentioned earlier, I studied for a year in Granada Spain with language intensive courses in Spanish. This is the experience that caused me to desire working abroad after graduation.
