I will be an English language assistant at a bilingual primary school in Madrid, Spain. As a native English speaker, I will assist the main teacher and facilitate conversation and learning in English.
How did you first learn about or get connected to your current position/opportunity?
My Spanish advisor shared information about a similar program that connects people with English teaching positions in Spain. I researched other programs and came across CIEE, who placed me with the school I will be teaching at next year.
How did your SJU education impact your position or professional goals?
It has always been a goal of mine to be fluent in Spanish and my SJU education has advanced me towards that goal and also
connected me with outside opportunities to achieve that goal.
Did you participate in any experiential learning activities (internship, co-op, study abroad, etc.) while at SJU?
I went on the Study Tour to Spain during the summer of 2019. The Study Tour had 2 parts: a Spanish class and a trip to Spain. The
class taught the history and culture of Spain. Then the class traveled to Spain as a group for 3 weeks at the beginning of the summer. We stayed in 4 different parts of Spain and saw various historical sites and tourist attractions, while getting to experience life in Spain.
