The Value of Internships
At Nightingale Properties, I learned the ins-and-outs of property management. It was my first internship in commercial real estate, and it gave me a great foundation regarding office space. I helped to review leasing documents, performed building walkthroughs and generally assisted the property management team.
At Colliers, I interned with an office brokerage team. Every day was different, and it was my first time canvassing a suburban office market. In addition to canvassing, I procured market comps and catalogued vacancies in the market. I also prepared data for presentation to tenants and landlords. I also supported senior brokers on tours and client meetings. I had the liberty of scheduling my own day, which was also a new experience for me.
How did SJU’s Real Estate Society and Real Estate & Construction Alumni Chapter Help You Achieve Your Professional Goals?
The SJU Real Estate Society and Real Estate and Construction Alumni Chapter helped me to establish great connections with my peers and with SJU alumni, and offered an easy talking point when meeting people in the industry. Being that I was not a student in the Haub Business School, attending SJU Real Estate Society events helped me to supplement my real estate knowledge outside of the classroom.
