Heidi Xaysena, ’18

I'm responsible for planning, developing, executing, and maintaining data tools in support of Chubb's multinational business. It entails working with large sets of data that require analysis, validation, and cleansing before developing key metrics in our BI dashboard that is utilized by global management.

I first learned about the position through a colleague in the same company who knew of my interest in BI. I was in the midst of moving to another state and applying for the job was the last thing on my mind. It just so happened that the opportunity is in the same state I was moving to and at the last hour I decided to go for it. It turned out to be one of the best decision I ever made.

The BI degree is versatile and definitely opened up many doors and opportunities to work in multiple industries. There is data in every company. How data is used as an asset to achieve a competitive edge is changing the business landscape. My background in management information systems and finance have certainly attributed to the decision to pursue a career path in IT where I can combine both technical and financial skills in my current position.
