I am a data analyst for a for-profit healthcare organization. I use different tools such as Excel, Pyramid Analytics, Cerner Applications, and MySQL to run reports, create views, and complete ad-hoc tasks.
Describe the day to day schedule in this role
I create different reports based on financial data through Excel and Pyramid (tableau-like application). I also go over any tasks given at the time by my supervisor. I use Team meetings 2-3 times of the week to go over progress.
How did you land your job/internship?
I went through process entirely on my own. I applied directly through UHS career portal and went through 2 interviews with Assistant Director and Director of Rev Cycle Dept. I was required to submit 5 references from supervisors and colleagues.
What skills do you use on a daily basis in this role?
I use MS Office (Mainly Excel), Data Visualization tools (Tableau,PowerBI, Pyramid Analytics), Cerner Applications, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Communication and Persistence

SJU gave me a general healthcare background as well as helped me learn more about data analysis through DSS and IHS classes.

Apply to as many jobs as you can that you may be interested in and practice answering interview questions with ideas in mind before going into it.
