About McNulty Scholars

The John P. McNulty Program for Leadership in Science and Mathematics is designed for highly qualified young women who are pursuing a degree in the natural sciences, mathematics or computer science. This challenging program provides full- and partial-tuition scholarships, and a supportive environment to help bright young women become leaders who reach the highest echelons of the STEM professions.

McNulty Program graduates have gone on to pursue advanced degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Chemistry, Molecular Biophysics and Neuroscience at institutions including Cornell University, Duke University, Georgetown University, University of Southern California, University of Pennsylvania, University of Illinois and Johns Hopkins University.

Legacy of John P. McNulty

Based on an intensive application review process, 18 finalists are invited to interview with our Faculty Review Committee. Of these, six Scholars will be awarded 4-year, full- or partial-tuition scholarships.

McNulty students receive intensive faculty and peer mentoring, as well as ongoing leadership training and professional development. Many of our students present their research at a professional academic conference before they graduate.

McNulty students are given the opportunity to participate in the Summer Scholars Program, a 10-week, faculty-mentored research experience on campus. Faculty mentors also provide guidance in identifying and pursuing high-quality professional internships.

The McNulty Program culminates in a faculty-mentored independent research project during the senior year.
