Degree Programs
Saint Joseph's offers undergraduate majors and minors in Risk Management and Insurance and Actuarial Science.
The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of how insurance companies make pricing, underwriting, investment, and financing decisions. Students will also become familiar with the risks facing financial institutions, corporations, and individuals, and will learn how to measure and manage these risks. This program also prepares students for industry-recognized professional designations, such as CPCU, and offers a strong foundation for careers in insurance, risk management, brokerage, corporate risk and financial services. With experiential learning opportunities, networking events, and industry partnerships, students graduate with the skills and connections needed to succeed.

The Actuarial Science (ASC) program provides students with the mathematical and statistical tools needed to assess financial risk and make data-driven decisions. With unique expertise, actuaries enhance financial security in many industries—including insurance—by using analytical methods to guide decisions that involve risk. Becoming a credentialed actuary is a rigorous process, requiring the completion of eight or more actuarial exams and several online modules. This program includes VEE Courses (Validation by Educational Experience) and prepares students to sit for actuarial exams and pursue careers in insurance, consulting, and financial services.
