Overview
Our office empowers students to self-advocate and to make a successful academic transition to the University. Our team partners with you to meet your academic goals and to develop skills and strategies to learn more efficiently and effectively. We offer services in-person and remotely to accommodate student needs.
Learning Strategies Consultation
Whether you are a freshman beginning at Saint Joseph's University, an adult returning to campus, an ESL student new to the language of medicine, or any student looking to study more efficiently or effectively, we can help you strengthen your learning strategies.
During our meeting, we will work with you to create a personalized study plan. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Time Management
- Study Skills
- Note Taking
- ESL Support
- Strategic Reading
- Test Preparation
- Test Taking
- Memory
- Overall Concentration
Schedule a Consultation
To schedule a consultation:
- Access the WCOnline scheduling system at http://mywco.com/learning.
- If you do not already have an account, create one by clicking on the blue "Register for an Account" link.
- Log into the system using your new account.
- Choose "Learning Strategy Consultations - Lancaster" from the drop-down box on the login page.
- White boxes indicate open appointment times. Click on a white box to make an appointment. You may choose an in-person or Zoom meeting.
- Check your email for your appointment confirmation.
Workshops
Our office runs regular workshops either in-person or online. Workshop topics rotate to align with course demands and requirements throughout the semester.
Workshops are announced in relevant courses through Canvas. Campus-wide offerings are published in the monthly issues of InStallments.
Peer Tutoring
Our Peer Tutoring program pairs you with a trained peer who has successfully taken your course. Tutoring appointments are offered either one-on-one or in small group settings and are free of cost. Courses covered vary based on tutor availability.
Make an Appointment
To schedule a peer tutoring appointment:
- Access the WCOnline scheduling system at http://mywco.com/learning.
- If you do not already have an account, create one by clicking on the blue "Register for an Account" link.
- Log into the system using your new account.
- Choose "Peer Tutoring" from the drop-down box on the login page.
- Use the "Limit to" box at the top of the schedule to search by class.
- White boxes indicate open appointment times. Click on a white box to make an appointment.
- Check your email for your appointment confirmation.
