Establishing Diversity in the Workplace
Representation matters to Morgan Bui, BBA ’17. As a vice president in Aon's Financial Services Group (FSG), she focuses on ensuring inclusivity in the workforce for those in queer and minority groups, including herself.
In her current role, she is responsible for the analysis and placement of management liability insurance programs for financial institutions. As a queer Asian-American woman, Bui finds herself furthering representation in the industry. She serves as a role model for young professionals from underrepresented backgrounds and participates in Aon’s FSG/Professional Services Practice (PSP) Pride Subcommittee. Last summer, Bui led a panel discussion with the Subcommittee, called Celebrating Diversity & Amplifying Voices.
“Planning, hosting and seeing the success of the event was one of the most gratifying moments of my career thus far, as it allowed me to use all of the skills I’ve gained over the past five to six years toward a matter that was very personal and important to me,” she says.
Bui graduated from Saint Joseph’s with a double major in risk management and insurance (RMI) and finance. She leveraged opportunities within the RMI program, such as conferences, in-class projects and presentations with industry leaders, to earn a job post graduation, first with Validus — which she landed through an in-class project — and then with Aon, where she has been since 2019. She says her experience at Saint Joseph’s shaped her career path.
My RMI coursework was critical in building foundational knowledge about the insurance industry...and Professor Angelina's perspective and experiences brought everything to life,

“Without Professor Michael Angelina, I wouldn't have entered the insurance industry,” says Bui. “The RMI coursework was critical in building foundational knowledge about the insurance industry; however, it was Mike’s perspective and experiences that brought everything to life.”
