Cutting Costs for Vulnerable Patients
As a student, Nicholas Chingas, BBA ’16, looked for a career that would let him serve his community using the tools and expertise he garnered during his time at Saint Joseph’s.
Chingas graduated with a double major in finance and economics before entering into a one-year formal training program with Citizens Bank and beginning his career in investment banking. After gaining exposure to a number of industries during this time, Chingas eventually found his calling in the healthcare industry.
“The ultimate mission [of the healthcare industry] is to people a better quality of life,” Chingas says. This career shift was the perfect opportunity for Chingas to work toward a goal that was instilled in him by SJU’s Jesuit values.
“My first goal is to help people,” he says. “I want to see that my work makes a positive difference in this world.”
Chingas is seeing that goal come to fruition at Real Time Medical Systems, a healthcare software company, where he is using his skills to direct financial and corporate strategy.

Real Time partners with healthcare organizations and uses AI technology to monitor and analyze key clinical data points across all patients in post-acute healthcare facilities. The insights are then used to identify and alert clinicians to high-risk patients based on real-time changes in their condition. This prioritization can reduce hospital admissions, improve patient care and reduce unnecessary healthcare costs by allocating care and resources to those who need it most.
Chingas attributes the success he has achieved in his professional life to his time on Hawk Hill and is dedicated to giving back to his alma mater in any way he can. He currently serves as the co-chair of Saint Joseph’s NYC Alumni Chapter and mentors students through SJUConnects because he knows the power of an SJU education.
“The Haub School of Business does an excellent job of breaking down the 'silos' across majors, as any good business attempts to do organizationally,” says Chingas. “Teaming up with students of other majors in my Business Policy capstone course to accomplish a shared goal was a highly valuable experience before entering the workforce.”
