Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) System
The University’s purpose in installing and using cameras in certain locations of the University is twofold: security and deterrence. Absent legal process, information obtained through the use of these cameras will be viewed only by authorized University personnel and will be used internally by the University primarily, but not solely, for these purposes.

Weapons Policy
The presence of weapons poses a direct and substantial threat to our campus community.
All students, former students, faculty, employees, former employees, customers, vendors, and visitors are prohibited from possessing, carrying, or storing any weapon on their person, while on University premises, or in any vehicle on campus without specific authorization from the Director of Public Safety.
Student Identification Card Policy
Student identification cards will be issued to all eligible members of the Saint Joseph’s University community. The card must be carried at all times on campus, and produced upon the request of a University employee. Identification cards are non-transferable and subject to confiscation, and disciplinary sanctions if used by any person other than the person to whom it was issued. If a card is lost or stolen, the Office of Public Safety & Security should be contacted immediately. A replacement card will be issued for a fee.
In order to be eligible to obtain a Saint Joseph’s University student identification card and the subsequent building access related to the card, a student must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Student is active and registered for a current or future semester
- Student has an active on-campus housing agreement
- Student is in pending graduation status
Student Vehicle
The Student Vehicle Policy at Saint Joseph's University authorizes parking opportunities for eligible students who obtain permits from the Office of Public Safety and Security.
First-year residential students are prohibited from bringing cars to campus or parking on neighboring residential streets. The student operator of any vehicle that is found parked on a neighboring residential street without a valid City of Philadelphia parking permit is considered in violation of the Student Vehicle Policy and will be referred to the Office of Community Standards.
Missing Student
The purpose of this policy is to convey the procedures of the University’s response to reports of “on-campus” missing students, as required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. This policy applies to all students and in particular to those residing in campus housing, including off-campus apartment units leased by the University for students. If a member of the University community or a parent has reason to believe that a student who resides in on-campus housing is missing, they must immediately contact the Office of Public Safety & Security at 610-660-1111.

Annual Security Report
The University provides this Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Portions of this Report are provided pursuant to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Act 180 (Uniform Crime Reporting Act).
