Commercial Solicitation on Campus
Saint Joseph’s University, as a private institution, may determine what persons and the circumstances under which they are permitted on campus for solicitation purposes. As a convenience to members of the University community, Saint Joseph’s University accords the opportunity for invitation of representatives of commercial enterprises to campus for the purpose of discussing products and services of interest.

Prohibition of Credit Card Marketing To Students
Prohibited Activity
The advertising, marketing, or merchandising of credit cards directed at students is prohibited.
Third party vendors, including, but not limited to, banks and credit unions, may not use campus facilities to further credit card marketing tactics directed at students. This includes, but is not limited to, tabling, distributing, and/or posting fliers, posters, signs, applications, or other marketing materials in any campus facilities. The University’s e-mail system, web pages, or any other University electronic communication systems may not be used to advertise or market credit cards to students.
Third party vendors are also prohibited from offering gifts, financial support, goods, or services to any University staff member, faculty member, or student organization in exchange for allowing the vendor to advertise or market credit cards to students. Further, third party vendors are prohibited from offering any gifts to students in exchange for completing a credit card application.
Any third party vendors such as banks, credit unions, or similar commercial entities who are permitted to be on-campus are prohibited from marketing to and/or soliciting students for the purposes of providing credit card or other loan applications.
Exclusions
- Advertisements contained within external newspapers, magazines, and other similar publications.
- Advertising, marketing, or merchandising of alumni affinity credit card offers directed to alumni who have graduated from the University. This includes use of the University’s e-mail system and webpages, provided that the electronic communications and web pages are limited to and specifically directed to alumni.
Sanctions
Any third party vendor who intentionally, knowingly, and/or materially violates this [policy] may be subject to sanctions depending on the nature and extent of the violation. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, removal from campus(es) and denial of access to campus(es).
Any student, staff member, or faculty member who intentionally, knowingly, and/or materially violates this policy may be subject to disciplinary action.
Facilities Use Policy
This Facility Usage Policy provides guidance and procedures designed to assist community members on the use
of the University facilities and assist event organizers in planning events on campus. This policy applies to all
University buildings and grounds on Hawk Hill, University City, and Lancaster locations.
Hazardous Materials on Campus Policy
The presence of hazardous materials poses a direct and substantial threat to the safety of our community and, therefore, is prohibited in or on any property owned, managed, leased, or controlled by the University.
Liability Disclaimer
The University assumes no responsibility for the security, loss, destruction or theft of students’ personal possessions. Students are encouraged to inventory their personal possessions periodically, affix their names on all personal possessions, and/or record and maintain in a safe place, the serial numbers or other identifying markers of, personal possessions. Moreover, students are encouraged to obtain personal property insurance for their personal possessions, because the University’s insurance program covers only University property and does not extend to the personal property of students. Students participating in University activities, including athletics and all other activities, or using University facilities or equipment, do so at their own risk. The University assumes no responsibility, and hereby disclaims responsibility and liability, for accident, loss, injury, illness or death resulting from such activity.
