In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Saint Joseph's has implemented several health and safety programs to protect employees as they carry out their work functions, and to provide a safer campus learning and work environment for all community members.

Saint Joseph's University has established this Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP)/Lab Safety Manual to minimize recognizable hazards associated with the handling, use, and storage of chemicals/hazardous materials in the laboratories.

Employees of Saint Joseph’s University who were in potential contact with hazardous chemicals must be apprised of the hazardous properties of chemicals they work with to protect themselves from these chemicals.

The EHRS Department manages environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and achieve optimal control and reduction of hazards and exposures which are detrimental to people, property, and the environment.
