BACB Supervision
Overview
Many of the Kinney Center's autism support programs are rooted in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis — and we provide a wide range of training opportunities for those pursuing a career in this dynamic field.
If you are a graduate student seeking certification to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA), you can apply for a challenging and rewarding opportunity that will provide the experience you need to be eligible to sit for your exam. Under supervision of a BCBA®, you would gain experience and lead center-based programming across a variety of learner needs. These opportunities include, but are not limited to youth, transitional, adult, and recreation opportunities. Supervision opportunities are offered throughout the academic year.
Internship Requirements
-
Because there are limited spaces available, our competitive application process includes meeting eligibility requirements and application deadlines, passing a series of background checks, and successfully participating in an interview process. Qualified individuals will have superior academic performance, related experiences and beginner skills in autism and behavior analysis.
-
Must be enrolled in an Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Verified Course Sequence, with the first course beginning on or before the start date of your internship.
-
Must have 6–12 months of experience in direct implementation of behavior analytic services with individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities. Other behavior analytic experience will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
-
Visit www.bacb.com to be sure you meet the requirements outlined to begin your supervised fieldwork. In addition, it is essential to attend all mandatory Kinney Center SCHOLARS training sessions prior to the start of supervision.
-
Must work a minimum of 20 hours per month in Kinney Center programs, as specified by the BACB. Activities below are subject to current programming availability and needs, in coordination with your supervisor:
- Work one-on-one with learners in Kinney programs
- Support behavior data collection and analyze behavior graphs
- Build and chart skill data analysis through progress monitoring
- Learn the process behind functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans
- Gain supervised individual and group experience with a BCBA
-
1:1 meetings and group supervision meetings are billed at an hourly rate of $75. The BACB requires supervision equal at least 5% of your fieldwork each month. For example, if you have 20 hours per week of fieldwork, you will be required to have 1 hour of supervision per week, which would equal $75 per week. Invoices are sent monthly.
Why Choose the Kinney Center?
Put simply, at the Kinney Center, your supervised experience goes well beyond direct implementation. You will have meaningful opportunities to complete skill assessments, build data collections, analyze client progress and behaviors and participate in the training and management of direct care staff. Your experience hours can also be tailored to specific desired outcomes within the skill set of the BACB FifthEdition Task List.
