Saint Joseph's University offers several graduate-level certificate programs that will help further grow your professional career and prepare you to work with individuals living with autism. The partnership between Saint Joseph's and the Kinney Center will provide you with a wide variety of experiential learning courses and research opportunities.
Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate
The online Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) certificate program at Saint Joseph's prepares students to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam when accompanied with a master's degree. The program curriculum explores both the theoretical and methodological foundations of behavior analysis.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement
Endorsed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement program at Saint Joseph's features a curriculum that focuses on assessment and research-based strategies. The program places special emphasis on skill development and behavioral modification for students of all ages who have been diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education PK-12 Certification
Saint Joseph's University's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education PK-12 Certification program is designed to serve those interested in the education of the 40 to 50% of children impacted by hearing loss.
Social, Emotional and Behavioral Wellness (PK-12) Certificate
Social and emotional (SEL) learning is the process by which children and adults acquire the skills necessary for managing emotions, showing empathy, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, making responsible decisions, and setting and achieving positive goals. These skills must be practiced in social contexts, including classroom and school environments. This graduate certificate will prepare you to help students develop these skills.
Special Education Certification
With a special education certification, educators can learn key strategies to creating an inclusive environment or special education classroom. In this online program, students can choose between two grade-level certifications, PK-8 or 7-12, which will prepare them for Pennsylvania certification.
Reading Interventionist Certification
The 13-credit reading interventionist certificate program at Saint Joseph’s University will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to teach students to become fluent, independent readers. The certificate, which is International Dyslexia Association (IDA) accredited, can be completed online, on campus or both, and can stack into a Special Education M.S. and Education M.S. for all grade levels.
