Costs & Tuition
How do I apply for financial aid?
- To apply for federal student aid, please complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) beginning Dec. 1, 2024.
How do I know if I qualify for financial aid?
- The Federal Student Aid Estimator provides information to determine how much federal financial aid you may be eligible for.
How can I access my tuition statements?
- Log into the Nest
- Go to the "Students tab" (top right of the page)
- Scroll down toward the bottom of the screen, to the section titled "Tuition Information."
- Under that section, click on "Billing, Payments and Payment plans."
- As a first time user, you will need to complete demographic information and set up a PIN for security.
- Once on the homepage of your account, you can access "payment plans," "make a payment" and "view your tuition statements."
- Click on "View current bill" to see the most recent billing statement generated.
Besides tuition, fees, and room and board, what else should I include in a budget for the school year?
- Student Cost of Attendance (COA) budgets are designed to provide a projection of costs while enabling the Financial Aid Office to create an appropriate financial aid package. Click here to learn more about the Cost of Attendance.
Payment Plans
How can I sign up for a payment plan?
Payment plans are available on a semester only basis. Plans range from 3-5 monthly payments. There is a $40 enrollment fee each time you enroll in a payment plan.

Does SJU offer Employer Deferral?
*Note: This applies to graduate and Lancaster students.
Yes. If your employer reimburses a student for all or part of the tuition, we encourage you to enroll in Employer Deferral. Employer deferral is enrolled through Nelnet our payment plan provider.

After choosing the semester you wish to enroll, please choose the 1-Payment option due on the corresponding dates for the semester. The dates for each semester are as follows: fall-due date is Feb. 1, spring due date is July 1, summer due date is Oct. 1.
Does SJU allow Third Party Billing?
*Note: This applies to graduate and Lancaster students.
Yes. The student needs to provide the Voucher, Letter of Credit, or other types of authorization forms directly to the Office of Student Accounts via email to bursarsoffice@sju.edu. We will bill the employer after add/drop for the semester. We will place a memo on the account indicating we are waiting the third party payment. Please be sure to check your account to ensure the employer has paid the tuition. The student is responsible if the employer does not pay timely.
