SAP at Saint Joseph's University
Saint Joseph’s University is proud of its long-standing relationship with SAP through the SAP University Alliances. Through this alliance, SJU students have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a leading ERP product, one which many will work with throughout their professional careers. The SJU Department of Accounting is proud to have a major curriculum that's infused with SAP. The Department of Accounting stresses the importance of the modern accounting student having a proficient understanding of the role that advanced ERP systems, such as the ones provided by SAP, will play in their careers as business professionals. SJU accounting students can expect to work with SAP in at least three of the accounting courses they take while at SJU as part of the SAP Leadership Program.
Program Overview
Join the SAP Leadership Team to work with the tools and resources of integrative business process technology and strategic thinking. In this program, you gain access to the SAP Business Suite family of solutions, including financial reporting and data analytics. The data analytics focuses on state-of-the-art visualizations produced from reports generated in SAP S/4HANA. The focus of these reports includes the following modules:
- Financials and Controlling Ledger
- Materials Management and Purchasing
- Sales and Product Distribution
- Production Planning
- ESG Reporting and the Green Ledger

- This module includes an overview of SAP navigation.
- Through a series of financial transactions, learn how the SAP system creates financial reports.
- Experience how to integrate the financial reporting module with controlling in order to better understand the budget management process of a business.

- This module includes the completion of a simulation of the typical purchasing cycle.
- Students will learn the important aspects of linking the purchasing cycle with financial ledgers.
- Experience how to integrate financial and purchasing within the control structure and explore through case analysis how that control structure works.

- This module includes the completion of a simulation of the typical sales cycle.
- Students will learn the important aspects that link the sales cycle with financial ledgers.
- Experience how to integrate financial and sales within the control structure and explore through case analysis how that control structure works.

- This module includes the completion of a simulation of the typical production planning cycle.
- Students will learn the important aspects of linking the production cycle with financial ledgers.
- Experience how to integrate production planning within the control structure through case analysis and explore how that that control structure works.

- This module includes updating the financial statements based on the impact of all previous transactions.
- Students will learn how to export statements into spreadsheets to begin analytical procedures.
- Experience how to use AI to analyze financial statements and create effective visualization reports.
- This module also explores the integration of ESG reporting and the ongoing development of the Green Ledger within SAP.
