Transfer Credit Equivalencies
To search for transfer courses with Saint Joseph's University equivalencies, please consult our Transfer Equivalency System (TES).
This database should be used as a guideline. Equivalencies are subject to change, are not guaranteed, and may count differently depending on a student’s degree program. Certain institutions and courses may not appear in our database. This does not mean that the courses will not transfer; only that they have not previously been presented for evaluation.
If you do not find the institution(s) or course(s) you are looking for, please contact our transfer admission counselors at transfer@sju.edu or 610-660-1300. A Saint Joseph's University equivalency shown with the prefix ‘INT' indicates we do not have an equivalent course, but the credit is transferable (usually as general elective credit). Official transcripts are required in order for the transfer credit evaluation to be completed.
Block Transfer & Community College Agreements
Block Transfer
The Block Transfer Policy awards credit toward completion of SJU’s General Education Program (GEP), major courses, and elective credits. With this policy, transfer students with an associate's degree will be able to focus on their chosen major of study, which will provide depth in a particular field and is thus a preparation for an effective career or for graduate study in that field. The addition of three specific classes at Saint Joseph's will allow students to complete their General Education Program, allowing them to potentially graduate in two years.
Community College Agreements
Saint Joseph’s University has Articulation Agreements with other colleges to facilitate the transfer of credits. Please refer back to this list as it is updated regularly.

AP and IB Courses
Advanced Placement (AP)
Students who have been enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school may be eligible for some college credits if they participate in the advanced placement testing program offered by the College Entrance Examination Board. Those who take the AP examinations and earn scores of 4 or 5 (on a 1-to-5 scale) normally are granted college credits and/or placement. Decisions on all advanced placement credits are made by the academic deans in consultation with the department chairs after a careful review of the student’s exam. Incoming freshmen as well as transfer students with AP credit, receive information over the summer from the registrar indicating what credit (if any) they will be awarded and which SJU course is the equivalent of their exam. Students are reminded to have an official grade report transcript of their AP exam scores sent to SJU.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Saint Joseph’s University grants college credit for classes taken through a recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Saint Joseph’s will award credit for up to three successfully completed higher-level classes in which a score of 5 or higher is achieved on the appropriate IB examination. No credit will be awarded for subsidiary subject examinations. Saint Joseph’s University grants college credit for A level exams on a case-by-case basis. Students are encouraged to submit all exam results prior to start of their academic term for review.
Saint Joseph’s University will not grant credit for both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate credits.
