Growing Her Business, One Cupcake at a Time
Growing up, Katelyn Singley, BBA ’18, was inspired by her mother and grandmother's creativity with baking and crafting. Now, she’s the owner and founder of a boutique bakery, CupKate’s, that showcases hand-crafted desserts with homemade apparel.
Singley graduated with a double major in marketing and family business entrepreneurship from Saint Joseph’s Haub School of Business.
She was able to open her business just a few short years after graduating using the industry experience and the skills she gained in her program at SJU.

“Haub gave me the skills to turn my dreams into reality,” says Singley. “I don’t believe I could be where I am without my marketing skills.”
Currently, Singley’s boutique specializes in custom cakes, cookies, macaroons and more, but she’s also begun designing and sourcing her own merchandise, including clothing, hats, purses and jewelry that are relevant to the CupKate’s brand.
In September of 2023, Singley and CupKate’s celebrated the one-year anniversary of the brick-and-mortar phase of her business launching. Singley dreams to continue expanding her business through studio classes, food trucks, a corporate headquarters and more locations.
“I worked in a corporate job and saved my money in order to gain the marketing, HR, organizational and financial skills that enabled me to start my business all on my own,” she says.
