The advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) rotations at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania introduced Gaynor to clinical pharmacy and led to her completing a PGY1 residency at Temple University Hospital. Her passions continued to develop and a specialty for critical care was earned through a PGY2 in critical care at Temple.
During her time at Temple Hospital, no two days looked the same for Gaynor. Her roles and responsibilities changed as she served admitted patients facing a variety of medical diagnoses. Gaynor participated in multidisciplinary rounds, which included physicians, nurses and advanced practitioners. She attended emergency situations (codes, strokes, respiratory arrests, etc) and assisted with operational workflow, making sure it aligned with patient care.
Since graduating residency at Temple, Gaynor has become licensed in Massachusetts and earned a new role at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts as a clinical pharmacy specialist in critical care. This role will allow her to continue to develop her new clinical skills while covering the medical, surgical, trauma and cardiac intensive care units, as well as the emergency department.
