Application for Student or Intern Teaching

This is the universal student teaching application for all SJU students wishing to student teach. This includes, but is not limited to, undergrads, graduates, local, distance, online, elementary education, secondary education and special education.

Spring 2026: Application Form

Application Due By: May 15, 2025 (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Applications for Spring 2026 student teaching are now being accepted by the Office of Clinical Experiences. If you are planning to student teach in the Spring 2026 semester applications for Spring 2026 are due May 15, 2025  (NO APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED PAST THIS DATE-NO EXCEPTIONS)

Criteria for Applicants

Prior to securing a placement, students MUST meet the following criteria

For All Students

• G.P.A. of 3.00 or higher
• Complete all of the required Education coursework (please see advisor)

For Secondary Education Undergraduate and Secondary Education PLS Students

• An endorsement letter from your content department chair stating that you have at least a 2.75 G.P.A. in your content area.

About Resumes and Cover Letters

Resumes and cover letters are required to be uploaded at the time of submitting this application. If you are teaching in your own classroom, no cover letter or resume is required.

Teaching Clearances

Clearances valid through the end of the student teaching semester must be in your possession and uploaded to EXXAT prior to starting student teaching. Full details can be found on the Background Clearance webpage.
