Dates and times for each group will be updated once they are finalized. Each will be offered in-person unless otherwise noted.
First Year Funk Group
First Year Funk is an open support group for first year students. Meetings will be held once per week, and students are invited to attend every session or as often as they're able to. The group will be facilitated by CAPS therapists and will focus on connecting with and supporting one another, especially around the specific needs and experiences of new college students such as transitioning to college, homesickness, building relationships, managing roommate concerns, academic challenges, and finding a place in the university.
Interested first year students should contact the CAPS office (610-660-1090 / caps@sju.edu) for more information.
Grief in Common
Designed for those who may have experienced the loss of a family member, friend, or significant other, this group will offer the opportunity to find support among others, learn techniques to help hope with grief, and gain insight into your own experiences with loss.
For more information about joining, please contact the CAPS office (610-660-1090 / caps@sju.edu).
Hawks in ACTion Workshop
Hawks in ACTion is a three-week, psychoeducational workshop open to all Saint Joseph's students. Based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, participants will identify and clarify what is important and meaningful in their lives and learn skills to manage difficult experiences through the experiential practices of mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment to taking actions that support and inspire living more congruently with personal values. Learn more about your emotional experiences and how to apply flexibility in your ways of thinking!
Each section of the workshop will meet for one hour per week for a total of three weeks. Students are asked to commit to attending all three weeks in order to benefit most from the experience. For more information, please contact the CAPS office at 610-660-1090 or email caps@sju.edu.
Interpersonalities
Open to all students, this general process group will provide a supportive environment for individuals interested in learning more about themselves and how they interact within relationships with others (romantic, friends, family, classmates, professors, and everyone else). By providing a space to explore their interpersonal patterns, get feedback from other group members, and practicing new behaviors in a safe environment, the goal of the Interpersonalities Group is to assist students who are struggling with establishing or maintaining satisfying relationships to change.
For more information about joining, please contact the CAPS office (610-660-1090 / caps@sju.edu).
