Mission Statement

The mission of the Actuarial Science Industry Advisory Board at Saint Joseph’s University is to promote the education and professional development of the undergraduate actuarial science major and minor at the University. To achieve this mission, board members will engage in the following activities:

• Provide employment and internship opportunities to qualified students
• Offer shadowing experiences in corporate, consulting, and regulatory settings
• Serve as guest speakers and lecturers on campus to explain the practical applications of actuarial science and the rigors of the professional examinations
• Mentor talented students to advance their professional development and assist in their transition from academic to employment environments
• Assist in the development of the educational curriculum to ensure that the program remains vibrant and contemporary
• Meet semi-annually to discuss the progress and success of the board in achieving its mission and make appropriate modifications to tactics and objectives
