Ziegler Earns Fourth Big 5 Player of the Week Accolade
Laura Ziegler moved into ninth in program history in career rebounding and blocks at Saint Joseph's University.
Laura Ziegler earned her fourth Big 5 Player of the Week honor on Monday afternoon, announced by organization officials.
Averaging 19.0 points and 16.0 rebounds per game over the week, Ziegler helped the Hawks to an undefeated week in wins over George Mason and La Salle. Against the Explorers, Ziegler moved into ninth in program history in career rebounding and blocks, surpassing four Hawks to move to 25th all-time in scoring at St. Joe's.
The Dane started the week off with a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double to help St. Joe's defeat a George Mason team receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. Ziegler followed her performance up with 22 points and a career-high 17 rebounds against the Explorers to record her 11th double-double of the season.
Ziegler leads the nation in defensive rebounding, grabbing an average of 9.5 defensive rebounds per game. Her 11.6 rebounds per contest is seventh-most in the NCAA and is one of five players in the country with 10 or more double-doubles.
The Hawks host Duquesne inside Hagan Arena on Wednesday, January 8 in a 7 p.m. tip.
