PHILADELPHIA (June 8, 2018) — Karen A. Pellegrino will join the University as Vice President for Enrollment Management on Monday, June 11.
Pellegrino will play an integral role in shaping SJU’s enrollment strategy, continuing recent success in both quality and selectivity of incoming classes. She will lead efforts to drive application growth, improve selectivity, and support ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic diversity.
"It is an exciting time to be part of Saint Joseph's University,” says Pellegrino. “I am excited and honored to be offered this opportunity for many reasons, but most importantly, because of the strength of the Saint Joseph's community, which has been apparent in all of my interactions, as well as its continuing commitment to the Jesuit ideals upon which it was founded."
Focused on diversity and collaboration, Pellegrino has led an institution-wide diversity committee and has completed the Ignatian Colleagues Program and the AJCU Leadership Seminar. Having worked closely with Jesuit institutions for many years, she believes in the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis — or care for the whole person — by nurturing educational, personal, and spiritual development.
“I am confident that SJU’s recent success will continue to expand under Karen’s leadership,” says University President Mark C. Reed, Ed.D. “She is known for her collaborative and team-oriented style, strong leadership and management skills and considerable experience which includes working with institutions offering a broad range of academic programs.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and English and a master’s degree in higher education from Boston College, Pellegrino held positions in the office of admissions at Boston College and Fordham University. Since 2004, she has served at Fairfield University, where she is currently the vice president for enrollment management and has previously been the associate vice president, dean of enrollment and director of undergraduate admission.
