SJU Appoints Tracey Pachman as General Counsel
Pachman brings nearly 20 years of deep experience in higher education and the corporate world.
After a national search, Tracey Sorens Pachman, a seasoned lawyer with nearly 20 years of deep and varied higher education and corporate legal experience, will join Saint Joseph’s University as its new general counsel, effective Tuesday, April 14.
Pachman most recently served as deputy general counsel at Villanova University. She has previously served as an assistant general counsel for ARAMARK, serving the company’s K-12 and higher education business, and held positions at Comcast as senior counsel and Pepper Hamilton LLP as an associate.
In a message to the University community, University President Mark C. Reed, Ed.D., praised Pachman’s range of legal acuity.
“Tracey rose to the top of the candidate pool quickly, because of her wide breadth of legal knowledge and experience in different settings and industries,” he said. “In particular, Tracey stood out as a leader who has a strong command of the ever-evolving legal and regulatory issues affecting higher education today. I look forward to working with her.”
Pachman earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and her juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She has been active in the National Association of College and University Attorneys; WOMEN’S WAY, the Greater Philadelphia region's leading nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of women, girls and gender equality; and other local and civic organizations.
Pachman succeeds Marianne Schimelfenig who has served as general counsel since 2008.
