Saint Joseph’s Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management to Honor Tokio Marine North America & Philadelphia Insurance Companies CEO John W. Glomb Jr. as “Executive of the Year”
On Nov. 21, Saint Joseph’s University’s Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management will honor John W. Glomb Jr., president and chief executive officer of Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) and chief executive officer of Tokio Marine North America (TMNA), with its “Executive of the Year” award at The Union League of Philadelphia.
Since 2013, the University has recognized an executive who exemplifies leadership, innovation and integrity in the insurance industry. Honorees serve as role models, demonstrating the importance of critical thinking, ethical decision-making and a lifelong commitment to social justice – values at the heart of a Jesuit education.
“John has had a tremendous impact as a strategic, visionary leader who is focused on growth, relationship building, service and inspiring a corporate culture that thrives on these core building blocks,” says Mary Ann Cook, EdD, executive director of the Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management. “John exemplifies everything our students aspire to be – an accomplished global executive, a dedicated professional and a person with and for others.”
Glomb joined Philadelphia Insurance Companies in 2007 as senior vice president of the management and professional liability division. After serving in various roles, he was appointed president in 2020 and CEO in 2021. In 2023, he became CEO of TMNA, Inc., the holding company for four Tokio Marine Group companies in the U.S. including PHLY, Tokio Marine North America Services, Tokio Marine America and First Insurance Company of Hawaii. He also holds the role of executive officer within the executive management team at Tokio Marine Holdings – the parent company for TMNA, Inc.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from Saint Joseph’s Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management,” says Glomb. “The Academy’s commitment to developing future leaders through education rooted in integrity and service aligns perfectly with the values we uphold at PHLY. I’m proud to support their efforts to prepare students for meaningful careers and to contribute to an industry that thrives on trust and relationships.”
Proceeds from the event will help to fund student programming, student pipeline development and diversification and technology innovation initiatives within Saint Joseph’s Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management.
