Gov. Tom Wolf will host a non-partisan panel discussion on the redistricting of Pennsylvania congressional districts on Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Wolfington Teletorium in Mandeville Hall, 2-2:45 p.m. Space is limited, but Saint Joseph’s University faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend.
The redistricting is due to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court responding to criticism of the state congressional map. In its decision the Court charged the Pennsylvania General Assembly with the task of redrawing the state’s congressional districts. The legislators must submit a new map for approval by the governor by Feb. 9. Gov. Wolf is committed to getting input from the citizens of Pennsylvania to develop a fair congressional map.
Alongside the governor, the panel will include the a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of State, Carol Kuniholm of Fair District PA, who is the group’s chair and co-founder, and Joe Power’s ’71, adjunct professor of political science at Saint Joseph’s.
