PHILADELPHIA (February 13, 2017) — Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub Professional Development Center is proud to sponsor the What Women Want conference, an event designed for professional women at all stages of their careers. On March 14, 2017, What Women Want will strive to connect participants with allies in order to foster their success.

In previous years, the What Women Want conference has focused on marketing to women. This year’s event, however, will bring women together to support each other in their professional endeavors. Such support promotes female leadership, which is highly valuable in today’s workplace—in fact, the Peterson Institute for International Economics found that companies run by women tend to add 6% to their net profit margin.

“Female leaders tend to have more empathy, emotional self-awareness, and an inclusive negotiation style,” says Maureen Shenker, director of the Haub Center for Professional Development. “What Women Want will give individuals the tools they need to find their authentic voice, to start valuing their strengths and to stop self-sabotaging.”

The conference, to be held in the Wolfington Teletorium of Mandeville Hall, will offer many presentations and workshops. Opening and keynote speakers include:

  • Tara Jaye Frank, founder and CEO of TJF Career Modeling LLC and corporate culture adviser at Hallmark Cards Inc.
  • Jen Groover, a business and lifestyle contributor for major television networks who was recently named a leading “Serial Entrepreneur” by Entrepreneur Magazine.
  • Suzanne Garber, CEO of Gauze, the world’s most extensive database of hospitals outside of the United States and the author of “Safety Network: A Tale of Ten Truths of Executive Networking.”
  • Richelle Payne, assistant director for business development at SJU’s Initiative for Family Business and Entrepreneurship and an expert in brand awareness.
  • Felice Tilin, Ph.D., president of GroupWorks Consulting and the director of SJU’s Graduate Organization Development and Leadership Programs.
  • Bill Shipp, vice president of business development and business and healthcare banking for Wells Fargo with a background in financial modeling and analysis.

These experts will provide advice for attendees to find new ways to use emotional intelligence in their careers.

“Anyone who attends this event should expect to be inspired,” says Shenker. “They should expect more than engagement, but actual participation, through a number of workshops tailored to meet people where they are.”

Over 150 participants are set to attend the conference. These women will define their visions, both personally and professionally, and work together to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. The goal of What Women Want is to create a new network of women to keep each other inspired, empowered and motivated.

Tickets for What Women Want are $125 per attendee.
