OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Maguire Art Museum at Saint Joseph’s University welcomes art submissions for its summer 2025 group exhibition titled, Laudato Si: Caring for Our Common Home

This exhibition focuses on environmental stewardship; the relationship between humanity and the Earth, as shown in Saint Francis of Assisi’s Laudato Si poem. Saint Joseph’s University is designated by the Vatican as a Laudato Si university, showing its commitment to sustainability and stewardship rooted in Jesuit values.

The Maguire Art Museum will strengthen this commitment through an art exhibition that focuses on humanity’s responsibility to care for our environment, or the effects caused by human involvement. Pope Francis emphasized the importance of an interfaith effort for the Earth’s protection– what would this look like? How does the Earth’s destruction disproportionally affect marginalized populations?

Please submit work that speaks to this theme and explain this connection in your artist statement. All media will be considered.
