Art Therapy Workshop: Creativity as an Act of Survival

Objective: This workshop will explore the concept of creativity as a powerful tool for emotional
resilience and survival. Participants will reflect on how creative expression has served as a mean
of coping, healing, and thriving in challenging times. The aim is to create a space where
participants can use visual art to explore their personal experiences of transformation,
empowering them to reconnect with their inner strength through creative expression.

Workshop Overview
1. Introduction
◦ Brief welcome and introduction to the concept of “creativity as an act of
survival.” Brief introduction to the art therapy process 

2. Warm-up Exercise
◦ Activity: “Creative Resilience Reflection" - drawing and sharing

3. Art Creation
◦ Activity: "My Survival Symbol"
◦ Working with a range of materials, create a personal symbol or image that represents your own survival. 
◦ Participants are encouraged to focus on process rather than outcome, allowing the act
of creating itself to be a therapeutic experience.

4. Group Reflection
◦ This is a non-judgmental space and all expressions are valid.

5. Closing
