5 Questions with Alyssa Hernandez
Meet Alyssa Hernandez, BCaBA, the newest member of the Kinney Center Programs Team! Alyssa has been involved in the behavioral health industry for over a decade and brings years of experience managing teams within in-home and residential settings. Alyssa's background is extensive in the social service profession where she is rooted in working with individuals across the lifespan. She prides herself on being a strong advocate for individuals who cannot speak for themselves. We are thrilled to welcome Alyssa to the Kinney team. Learn more about Alyssa below:
1. What drew you to the special education/autism field?
I always had a strong passion supporting and advocating for individuals with disabilities. As my career flourished and my family became personally affected by autism, I knew I wanted to be a voice within the field.
2. What is your proudest moment at Kinney?
I began working at Kinney during the global pandemic which gave me the opportunity to be a part of the first virtual camp. Camp was a great first experience. Kinney gave me a chance to support families during an uneasy time.
3. What is on your professional wish list for the next few years?
My professional wish list includes passing my board exam, behavioral consulting, and aiding the building of a new program.
4. What is one thing that surprised you about working at Kinney?
One thing that surprised me about Kinney is the ability to be flexible and still support clients, as well as provide supervision to students during the pandemic.
5. What is your favorite thing to do outside of Kinney?
My favorite thing to do outside of Kinney is spend time with my son.
