Congratulations and Thank YOU!
Hi Dr. McConnell,
Congratulations on your new position on the occasion of your inauguration. I am very pleased to see that you are taking over the helm of SJU. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and let you know how impressed I was by you on the move-in date for my son. He was part of the AIM program and we were in the parking lot by McShain Hall getting ready to unload the car and you stopped to say hello. I didn't realize who you were in that moment and when I find out, I was quite impressed that you were out and about welcoming students and families. Kudos to you for doing that. I think it says a lot about you and I'm confident you're going to do great things at SJU. I crossed paths with several other staff that day and none were as warm and welcoming as you, so thank you for that.
Best of luck in your new job and congratulations again!

Hearty Congratulations!
Dear Dr. McConnell,
Congratulations, and wish you all the best and success as Saint Joseph’s University’s 29th President. I am so happy and proud to know that you are the First Female president in the University’s 172-year history. This is such a proud moment for all women. Very happy to see women leaders succeed and take leadership roles. As we all know ladies are gifted with the ability to do multitasking and be successful in all assigned duties. My son Sidharth Sreedhar is a freshman at Saint Joseph's and my family will be there with your journey for the next 4 years.
As you embark your journey at Saint Joseph's as the first female President, may you fill with the needed support, love, courage, confidence, and ability to face challenges. Move forward with positive spirit and I wish you all the success to shape the future vision of Saint Joseph's University.
Good Luck.
Dr. Jaimol Sreedhar, PhD

Thank you for being a leader
Dr. McConnell,
My whole life my mother has been my role model. We watched each other grow up, through the tough and proud moments as we all endure. The importance of having strong women leaders has never been a distance thought of mine but a must. She is the foundation of my family and what I live for today. I welcome you to this new journey in your life as a leader, a person, and as a friend.Sincerely,
Noah -
Congratulations Dr. McConnell!!! I’m not sure if you remember me but my name is Daniel De Lude and we met briefly at the club fair near the Hawks for Just Employment table. I’m currently helping Dr. Weidner’s research on living wages on Jesuit Campuses. Something tells me our paths will cross again, so I wanted to extend my gratitude to you for your inauguration! Keep putting students and staff first, and you will continue to do great.

Dear President McConnell,
Thank you for taking the position as president of my alma mater. As a student there, I learned to critically think as a person of faith, and from that faith express myself in word and in action. I found lifelong friends, i studied in Napoli and discovered my love of Italian culture, cuisine and music, and I found my vocation to the Society of Jesus. The Jesuits and many lay colleagues there inspired me to new heights and depths. Hawk Hill will forever hold a deep place in my heart. May your leadership and passion for higher education in a Catholic and Jesuit context allow the institution to excel to new heights and depths. May you know God’s Blessings and lean -in to God for greater assistance. +A.M.D.G. Chuck Frederico, S.J., ‘95

At Last!
Dear Dr. McConnell,
From the moment I met you, I felt you were destined for this role. As a member of the second class of women graduates of the “day college” in 1975, I have watched the progress of the University with pride but also with hope. Women’s voices and contributions- faculty, staff and students-have brought so much success to SJU but now, I look forward to your leadership the way women lead —for ALL, always forward. Here you are, Cheryl. At last. We’ve been waiting for you. Brava!
