High School LINKS
Beginning in 2013, the Saint Joseph’s University Department of Biology developed a high school outreach program (High School LINKS). In this new program, undergraduate student fellows implement a hands-on curriculum, Genes, Mutations, and Diseases, which introduces high school students to genetic diseases. Undergraduate fellows receive training and then bring the interactive laboratory exercises to the high school classroom. The program ends with a field trip to the Saint Joseph's Biology & GEP Natural Science Instructional Laboratories on campus.
High School LINKS has received funding from both the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HOPES grant) and American Society for Cell Biology (Compass Outreach Grant).
