Lead a purpose-driven life
At Saint Joseph's University, service isn't just something we do — it's part of who we are. The Jesuit tradition of education challenges us to be men and women "with and for others," building and bettering the communities in which we live, learn and work.
Combine academics and action
In courses across the board, from biology to finance classes, Saint Joseph's students tackle issues of ethics and social justice. With support from the University's Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Center for Business Ethics and Faith Justice Institute, students are not just discussing issues of ethics in the classroom — they're acting on them. In service learning classes, students engage in a model of experiential learning that includes hands-on service as part of the course.
Find your path to service
Whether it’s through one of SJU's parternships in the local community, a service immersion program that take you across the country, or a campus club or organization, there are countless ways to serve. Some of our unique service opportunities include:
- Philadelphia Service Immersion Program (PSIP) - service program during move-in week
- MAGIS - service and social justice program for first year students
- Weekly service
- Appalachian Experience (APEX) - immersion trip working with Habitat for Humanity
