Volunteer Opportunities
Overview
You’ve experienced firsthand—or through your child, your family, or friends—the distinctive, transformative nature of an SJU education. Open the door for others to have that same experience by joining the over 600 strong SJU volunteer network. Volunteers share their skill, knowledge, and energy to strengthen alumni connections for fellow Hawks of all ages, interests, and location.
Regularly volunteering just a few hours of your time provides valuable support to the community, your alumni peers, future students, and the ongoing vitality of the University. We encourage you to join us! Explore the many ways you can contribute based on your passions and availability. Put your leadership skills to use energizing alumni in your community and strengthening their—and your—connections to SJU. See below for more information on current alumni volunteer opportunities
Chapter Leader
Alumni volunteers, whether serving as chapter leaders or assisting with specific tasks or events, are essential to our regional and affinity programming. We seek volunteers to participate at the chapter level in event planning, recruitment of local alumni, participation in programming and assuming leadership roles. Visit our Chapters page to learn more about our existing regional and affinity chapters and contact information of current alumni leaders.
Diverse Alumni Council (DAC)
“Embracing Diversity, Celebrating The Whole Person”. Led by co-chairs Reese Blair '98 and Christian O'Brien '13, our strategic focus is to EMPOWER the National Alumni Board to incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion principles in all of its endeavors; to ENGAGE Hawk alums to foster a community that is welcoming and accepting of diverse alumni, and to PROMOTE and highlight the DAC to facilitate connections among Hawk alumni and their networks. We aim to help foster a diverse and equitable culture on campus and among alumni where the power of difference is celebrated and not just accepted, delivering positive change for our entire university community. Email our co-chairs at the links above if you'd like to become more involved with the efforts of the DAC!

Young Alumni Council
The Young Alumni Council provides an opportunity for undergraduate alumni from the past decade to serve as liaisons to the greater Hawk community. The council aims to provide resources and opportunities for alumni from professional development programs to social events.
We are seeking passionate, creative and dedicated alumni who strive to make a difference and stay connected with fellow Hawks. If you are interested in joining the young alumni council, please complete this interest form.
Admissions Ambassadors
Admissions Ambassadors play an integral role in SJU’s recruitment, admissions, and yield efforts. From reaching out to potential applicants at college fairs and high schools to interviewing applicants, either on campus or virtually, and attending admitted student events, there are a number of ways to get involved. By sharing your SJU experiences with prospective students and their parents, you provide a particularly important personal perspective to recruitment efforts and provide SJU Admissions with information they might not otherwise find in an application. Do you have 5-10 hours per year to give back to SJU? Would you like to share the value of your education with interested students and their families? Email alumni@sju.edu to learn more about available opportunities today!
