We are excited to announce a new approach to our annual donation drive this year. Instead of focusing on a single organization, we are expanding our reach by partnering with multiple incredible organizations, each dedicated to supporting those in our community.

Grab some fresh air and reflect on your day with this unique adaptation of St. Ignatius's Examen. Throughout Mission Week, you will find reflection questions placed throughout our campus. These questions are adapted by the Examen, a form of prayer by St. Ignatius of Loyal (the founder of the Jesuits), where participants review the events of their day to help them identify God's presence.

For over 50 years, members of the SJU community of many faith traditions and those who have no particular tradition, have participated in doing a version of the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola. This is a 500-year-old process of reflection on daily life and considering the movement of God’s spirit.

The Spiritual Exercises are a method of speaking to and listening to God daily; an honest self-evaluation weekly with a person experienced in leading persons through meditation and contemplation. There are a few versions:

• The longer 32-week format called the 19th annotated version. This offers a structured period to fully explore the rhythms of your life spiritually.
• The shorter 5-week format called the 18th annotated version. This allows participants to do some of the Ignatian Exercises, use scripture for contemplation, and practice the daily "examen" for greater integration of prayer and work.

These cards are a great way to send a little bit of sunshine into the homes of the individuals who the Jewish Relief Agency serves - many of who are struggling with isolation.

Join Becky to pray with the practice of Visio Divina, using art created to reflect the Global Synod on Synodality. We will engage with the Art and Synodality exhibit at the Center and practice synodality together using the conversations in the spirit model. Then we will engage in synodal art making together in the studio.

Becky McIntyre is a community visual artist and muralist in Philadelphia. Her work, often collective in nature, is deeply inspired by the Spirit and brings awareness to sociopolitical issues, the transformative and healing nature of art, and activating and inspiring new ways of being. A graduate of St. Joseph’s University, Becky is the visual artist for the Synodality in Catholic Higher Education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia project. In addition to various communal art projects and commissions, Becky is a Catholic Worker artists and regularly creates the cover art for the Los Angeles Catholic Worker Catholic Agitator newspaper.

The Embodiment of our Spiritual Selves (February 17, 1:00 pm - 4:00pm )

This workshop will offer space for our individual and collective exploration of faith identities through movement and music. These expressive art tools will be used as conduits to access the movement of the indwelling spirit within and among us. The workshop is open to all levels of movement ability.

Janira Bremner is a daughter of the Caribbean, shaped by the multi-cultural influences of small island identity – Jamaican & Guyanese ancestry: its food, music and sways of being. Dance training, performance and engagement has been an integral part of her being since childhood.  For the past two decades she’s pursued an invitation to know the Holy’s Spirit’s beckoning in movement via discipleship, dance education, relocation and vocation.

Help us make our elders feel loved this Valentine's season by sending them holiday cards. We’re all looking for ways to connect with others while keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe. Many of the elders in senior living facilities have a constant struggle with loneliness, which was amplified during the pandemic.

Solidarity and kinship are key values of Jesuit education. Small actions and interactions can leave a lasting impact on recipients. Love For Our Elders is an ideal way to give back this season. The organization is dedicated to helping people show love to those who need it. We’ve outlined how to send physical letters below, and visit their website for instructions on how to send a video letter as well.
