PHILADELPHIA (October 25, 2010) – The Saint Joseph’s University Academy of Food Marketing has announced the appointment of six new members to its board.
The Academy, established in 1962, provides food marketing students with industry-specific education and career opportunities. Services such as scholarship aid, counseling, recruiting, internships and cooperative education are also provided by the academy.
The term of appointment is three years.
<p>PHILADELPHIA (November 10, 2011) – The Saint Joseph’s University Board of Trustees today elected C. Kevin Gillespie, S.J., Ph.D. as its 27th president. A Saint Joseph’s alumnus (’72) who currently serves as associate provost for University Centers of Excellence at Loyola University Chicago, he will be introduced to SJU students, faculty and staff at a special gathering of the campus community tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:30 a.m.
<p>PHILADELPHIA (March 9, 2012)–As part of the Karen and Ronald Thomas Lecture Series, Saint Joseph’s Department of Political Science will host a lecture given by retired U.S. Army General Barry McCaffrey. Titled “Our National Security Feature: The Five Stories You Need to Know,” it will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cardinal John P. Foley Campus Center, located on the University’s Maguire Campus.</p>
<p>PHILADELPHIA (March 22, 2012) — Picture 1,100 backpacks, spread out across a stretch of lawn on campus. Then realize that they represent the lives of the 1,100 college students across the country lost to suicide each year.</p>
<p>Saint Joseph’s University’s Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support will feature a lecture by Jason McElwain to mark the University’s 8th Annual Autism Awareness Day, on Thursday, April 12. McElwain made national headlines in 2006 when, as the manager of his high school basketball team, he was called off the bench to play in the final minutes of the game and scored twenty points.</p>
<p>PHILADELPHIA (March 22, 2012) – Saint Joseph’s University will grant honorary degrees to James J. Martin, S.J., author and culture editor of America,the national Catholic, Jesuit magazine, and Gregory J. Boyle, S.J., founder and executive director of Homeboy Industries of Los Angeles, the largest gang intervention and re-entry program in the nation, at the University’s 2012 Commencement ceremonies, which are set for Saturday, May 12.
<p>PHILADELPHIA (April 4, 2012) - Chief actuary & risk officer of Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. Michael E. Angelina will assume the role of executive director of the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance at Saint Joseph's University on April 1. Angelina is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of experience in the field.</p>
<p>PHILADELPHIA (April 3, 2012) – The Saint Joseph’s University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, is hosting the 23rd annual student research symposium on Friday, April 13. Gordon M. Burghardt, Ph.D., professor of psychology, ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Tennessee, will join the SJU community as keynote speaker and recipient of this year’s Christopher Clavius, S.J.
<p>APRIL 11, 2012 (PHILADELPHIA) – “Eleven on the Thirteenth,” the 2012 Saint Joseph’s University Senior Art Thesis Exhibition, will open on Friday, April 13, marking the 13th year of the annual showcase. Held in the new gallery on the second floor of Merion Hall on the James J. Maguire ’58 Campus, this year’s exhibition features the collected works of 11 student-artists working with pastels, ceramics, painting and photography.

For more than a billion of the Earth's inhabitants, however, there is no guarantee of access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation. Saint Joseph's students have initiated a week of programming to bring attention to this important global issue.
