    PHILADELPHIA (June 12, 2014) — Christopher W. Close, Ph.D., assistant professor of history, received a $6,000 Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society to support a summer research trip to Nuremberg and Munich, Germany. In addition to this award, Close received a matching Summer Research Grant from Saint Joseph’s for this trip.

    PHILADELPHIA (June 9, 2014) — Saint Joseph’s University is pleased to announce that 35 members of the Class of 2014 have joined 14 local, national and international service programs, including the Peace Corps, Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) and the Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University. Full-time placements include working as a youth resource coordinator in Los Angeles with the JVC and facilitating elephant rehabilitation in Thailand with the Global Volunteer Network.

    For the fifth consecutive year, an SJU student was awarded a scholarship from the Saint Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia. Darby Rourick, an English and philosophy double major from Ankeny, Iowa, received a $20,000 scholarship to study at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
