SJU Hawks Attempt to “Flap” Their Way into Record Book

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 13, 2012) - Celebrating National Philanthropy Day and Guinness World Records Day, the Saint Joseph's Hawk will lead up to 1,000 SJU students, faculty, staff and alumni in an attempt to set a world record for the longest simultaneous "group flap." Rally-goers will flap continuously for at least five minutes to show gratitude to supporters of a new scholarship initiative at the University during a rally dubbed "Flapitude 2012." -

But a growing number of individuals with autism are adults, or are approaching adulthood. The Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support at Saint Joseph’s University is adding two programs with the aim of improving quality of life for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Special Education Program Receives Autism Endorsement

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 2, 2012) — The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has granted Saint Joseph’s University’s special education program the Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement for a four-course, 12-credit specialization. Saint Joseph’s University is one of nine select universities that have received this Endorsement from the PDE.
