American Marketing Association Partners with SJU for Certificate Program

Monday, February 11, 2013

PHILADELPHIA (February 7, 2013) — The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Marketing Association (PAMA) has partnered with Saint Joseph's University's Haub School of Business (HSB) to offer a Marketing Excellence Certificate Program for area professionals.

The program consists of six full-day sessions that combine academics with practical, real-world case studies to provide marketing professionals at different levels in their career with the latest tools they need to succeed in today's competitive business environment. Session topics include Strategic Planning, Brand Management, Pricing Strategies, Channel Strategies, Promotions and Communications, and Execution and ROI.

This is the third consecutive series of programs offered through this partnership.

Participants who successfully complete the requirements for the program will receive an official certificate of completion from PAMA and SJU.

“The Marketing Excellence Certificate Program is probably one of the best career development values around in terms of access to leading educators and industry veterans, and we’re pleased to be working with PAMA as partners on this exciting program,” says Michael Solomon, Ph.D., director of HSB's Center for Consumer Research.

The program is open to marketing and business professionals who want to learn relevant marketing skills they can apply immediately to their work. Participants gain knowledge of key marketing topics from SJU professors as well as hands-on experience from external industry speakers.

This program is an ideal refresher course for advanced marketing professionals or a practical introduction for those seeking more experience. Past attendees have included mid- and senior-level managers from area companies and organizations who want to gain new perspectives and who wish to better understand and integrate marketing theory with practice.

“Like most people, I found it difficult to justify time away from the office. But when you can clearly demonstrate ROI, it reinforces the value of attending the program,” says Craig Hunter, senior director of Global Marketing Communications at Vishay. “I applied the concepts from the first session to develop a marketing plan that addressed an overlooked market opportunity, which translated into significant growth for my company.”

The six-session series begins on Friday, March 22 at SJU and continues on the following schedule by topic (all sessions run on Fridays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.):

·      March 22, 2013 – Strategic Planning

·      April 5, 2013 – Product and Brand Management

·      April 19, 2013 – Pricing Strategies

·      May 3, 2013 – Distribution and Channel Strategies

·      May 17, 2013 – Promotions and Communications Strategies

·      May 31, 2013 – Execution and Marketing ROI

Registration for the full six-day certificate program is $1,250 (PAMA members and SJU alumni receive a $200 discount), but participants can also register for individual sessions at the rate of $295 per day ($250 for members/alumni).  Visit www.amaphilly.org or email info@amaphilly.org for more information and additional discounts.
