European Studies Major
As the birthplace of Western culture, Europe, its history and development has helped build the world we know today. From the earliest settlements in ancient Greece, to the colonization of the Americas in the in late 1400s, Europeans have spread their social and political structures as far as their peoples have traveled.
The European studies program at Saint Joseph's offers students an interdisciplinary academic experience that considers Europe's influence through the lens of many disciplines. With classes in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Haub School of Business, European studies majors have the unique opportunity to learn about the development of Western society from any vantage point, be it art or economics.
Students of European studies are expected to master a working level of competence in a European language, preparing them for careers in international relations, international marketing, art history, print and broadcast journalism, and law and politics.
