Join us for an engaging and enlightening seminar on the fascinating world of telephone phreaking and its implications for cybersecurity in the modern era. Telephone phreaking, the art of exploring and exploiting the intricacies of the telecommunications network, has a rich history dating back to the early days of the telephone system.

In this seminar, our expert speakers will delve into the evolution of telephone phreaking from its humble beginnings to its current manifestations in the digital landscape. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the techniques, tools, and technologies used by phreakers to manipulate telephone systems for various purposes.

Mike Dank
Mike Dank is the co-founder of PhilTel, a Philly-based phone collective aiming to install free-to-use payphones for all! Fueling his passions of hacking and phreaking, he also organizes the Philadelphia 2600 meetings, named after the long-running hacking magazine of the same name. Mike has spoken at several conferences including Radical Networks, WOPR, JawnCon, and BSides Philadelphia, and has written for numerous print and digital publications including N-O-D-E, 2600: The Hacker Quarterly, Neon Dystopia, and Exolymph.

Amanda Jackson
Amanda Jackson is a Senior Technology Auditor at Comcast, with responsibilities that include ensuring that the organization’s tech systems run securely and efficiently. Outside of Amanda’s main job role, she is actively engaged in initiatives geared towards helping small businesses improve their security posture and introducing urban youth to cybersecurity career pathways.  Formerly a social worker, with past experience that ranges from engineering to security awareness & education, Amanda believes that there is a career in cybersecurity for everyone. 

Rodney Newton
Rodney Newton is the owner and Founder of Arnaz Consulting, specializing in Cybersecurity Consulting, and IT Compliance Readiness. He is an Information Security Professional with over 20 years of experience in Information Technology Audit, Compliance, Security Assessments, Data Protection and Remediation. Rodney has worked in various industries including Banking, Utilities, Professional Services, Insurance, Technology, and the Federal Government. He also holds numerous industry certifications such as the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Certified Professional (CCP), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). 

Neferteri Strickland
Neferteri Strickland is a Cybertechnology Strategist, military officer and adjunct professor who aligns with her communities through emerging technology initiatives in K-20 Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education. Neferteri’s current projects include establishing a K12 Cybersecurity Career Ambassador Program with the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s NICE Community of Interest and serving as the 2024-2025 Director Elect at the Haub School of Business Innovation Center. 
At the start of the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Neferteri launched TEACHERS & the Design to Disrupt community to support education stakeholders navigating the future of education.
She, her loving husband, and two amazing children, reside in the Greater Philadelphia Region where she serves as an adjunct professor in Blockchain Technology at Saint Joseph’s University and a lecturer at The Wharton School of Business.
