Awards

 

  GROUP AWARDS

 Outstanding Student Organization/Program

  • Recognizes the registered student organization or non-registered program/initiative which has surpassed expectations by continually improving and assisting in creating a vibrant campus community. Among other qualifications, this organization or program may have executed quality campus wide programs, engaged students in meaningful service, and/or involved a large variety of students.

 Love in Action Award

  • Recognizes the efforts of a student organization which, through service to others, best uses the Jesuit ideals to reach beyond the walls of Saint Joseph's University, and whose work impacts the world at large and benefits people outside of the SJU campus.

 INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

 Advisor of the Year

  • Recognizes the student group advisor who gives their time, energy, dedication and knowledge to continually support student groups and campus life.

Alumni Association Award

  • Recognizes a graduating senior who has greatly exhibited leadership and dedication in strengthening the relationship between students and alumni, who will serve as a future alumni leader and whose contributions to the university exemplify the spirit of the SJU tradition.
  • Nominees must be in good academic standing, with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award. 

Dennis Foreman '68 Student Leadership Award

  • The award, which includes a monetary stipend, is given to a graduating senior, or another appropriate candidate in the sophomore or junior class, whose leadership abilities greatly contribute to the quality of campus life, as did Dr. Dennis J. Foreman's in his four years at Saint Joseph's University.
  • Dr. Foreman was an active student leader during his time on campus and was instrumental in bringing high-profile guests to campus, including Martin Luther King Jr., Barry Goldwater, and the Beach Boys.

Emerging Leader Award

  • This award recognizes the efforts of an emerging leader on the SJU campus; one who has demonstrated a strong commitment to making an impact on Hawk Hill. This student has shown their leadership qualities in multiple facets of the University community. 
  • This student has participated in experiences that have developed their leadership skills and has taken on roles in co-curricular activities that have increased their responsibilities and who are an integral member of a University recognized student organization.  
  • Nominees should demonstrate an ability to balance academics with their leadership and involvement by maintaining a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award. Only members of the current freshman or sophomore classes are eligible for this award.

 Indelible Mark Award

  • Recognizes a student leader who has in some capacity left an indelible mark on the Saint Joseph's community and who, without a doubt, will go forth and set the world on fire with the qualities they have learned while at SJU. This student has worked within co-curricular programs demonstrating dedication and commitment to the SJU community, and is an integral member of a university recognized student organization.
  • Nominees should demonstrate an ability to balance academics with their leadership and involvement by maintaining a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award.

 Linda Lelii Leadership Award

  • This award recognized a graduating senior who has displayed an extensive and courageous leadership commitment to Saint Joseph's University.
  • The Leadership Award has a proud tradition in recognizing excellence in consistent ethical leadership among graduating seniors.
  • This award demands a high standard of on-going engagement reinforced by concrete illustrations of leadership throughout a student's undergraduate career.

 Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Award

  • Awarded to an individual junior/senior who demonstrates a strong commitment to the Jesuit ideals of Saint Joseph's University. This student has also demonstrated how Ignatian tradition has positively impacted their co-curricular involvement and how this will impact their years upon leaving SJU.  
  • Nominees must be in good academic standing, with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award. Only members of the current junior or senior classes are eligible for this award.

 Scholarship Award

  • This award recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated and maintained a high academic standard throughout their time at the University.
  • Embodying the Jesuit ideal of Magis, this award takes into consideration academic excellence, academic rigor, and application of education.
  • In addition to maintaining a minimal cumulative grade point average of 3.5, this senior has also enhanced their education through a demonstrated commitment to co-curricular activities while attending Saint Joseph's.

 Service Award

  • This award recognizes a graduating senior who has displayed an extensive commitment to service within and beyond the Saint Joseph's University community during their time at the University.
  • This award seeks to highlight an individual who has demonstrated a clear, significant, and consistent dedication to fulfilling the Jesuit ideal of men and women with and for others and who has assumed leadership in engaging others in lives of service.

 Spirit-Intellect-Purpose Award

  • Recognizes and honors one undergraduate senior who best exemplifies the spirit-intellect-purpose ideal of Saint Joseph's University. This individual will have been involved in several on-campus programs with specific responsibilities, with one of these programs dedicated to the Jesuit ideals of service on a community, national, or international level.
  • Nominees will have demonstrated excellent academic standing maintaining a minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award.
  • This award is restricted to graduating seniors only.

 Spirit of Hawk Hill Award

  • Awarded to an individual junior/senior who, during their time at Saint Joseph's University, has embodied the spirit of Hawk Hill. This individual will have demonstrated significant involvement in campus activities and traditions, created positive experiences throughout the community and enhanced student life at SJU by having a genuine respect and interest in university traditions and programs.  
  • Nominees should demonstrate an ability to balance academics with their leadership and involvement by maintaining a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award.

 Student Leader of the Year

  • Recognizes a student who has greatly contributed to the activities of Student Life. This student should have maintained a dedication to continually improve their leadership qualities, the organization(s) to which they belonged, and the campus as a whole. 
  • Nominees should demonstrate an ability to balance academics with their leadership and involvement by maintaining a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award.
