The Office of University Communications (UComm) is located at Merion Place, 215 City Avenue. Its primary responsibilities include:

  • enhancing the public image of Saint Joseph’s University
  • promoting the University and its faculty, staff, students, programs and policies to a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • providing strategic communication consultation and media relations efforts on behalf of Saint Joseph’s University, its faculty, administrators, academic programs and staff
  • coordinating activities to promote Saint Joseph’s officials and expertise to internal and external constituencies, including the news media

The Office of Marketing Communications (MarComm) facilitates a team of internal and outside experts responsible for helping SJU departments, schools and organizations meet their goals and objectives in a clear and distinct way. It is also tasked with upholding and enhancing the reputation, image and values of the University through a variety of communications tools, channels, and messages.

These efforts include the Spirit | Intellect | Purpose image advertising campaign seen locally in both print and broadcast. Marketing Communications also manages the “SJUBrand” approvals process as well as program advertising, web content, multimedia, signage and merchandising.

Public Relations

Public relations professionals in the Office of University Communications help campus clients publicize events, news, faculty expertise or interesting stories to the general public by distribution to targeted media. Contact us at least four weeks before an event so that an optimal strategy for coverage can be planned.

Public relations services include:
· distributing news releases to appropriate media outlets
· arranging media interviews
· identifying and promoting subject matter experts
· developing, editing and placing op-eds
· offering media training to faculty and administrators

Institutional Identity

In an effort to maintain the SJU brand identity and to provide consistency in the look and messaging of all primary communications, a set of style guidelines has been created and approved by the Board of Trustees. These guidelines detail both messaging and graphic styles, and should be followed for all communications.

Editorial

University Communications creates and edits the editorial content for SJU Magazine, HawkEye, Haub School Review and intellectas well as Seen & Heard and Campus Colleagues.
