MARY CARLTON of Wayne, Pennsylvania is currently teaching 4th grade at St. Cyril’s School in East Lansdwone, Pennsylvania. Mary is a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross where she majored in English. During college she was a member of The Christian Life Community, served in Nicaragua and Appalachia, and worked at the Nativity Miguel School in Worcester, Massachusetts.
KATHERINE FARRELL of Bethesda, Maryland is currently teaching 6th grade at Visitation BVM School in the Kensington section of North Philadelphia. Katherine is a 2012 graduate of Georgetown University where she majored in English and minored in Theology and History. She was a member of Georgetown’s Women's Varsity Rowing Team and served as a student teacher at Sacred Heart Bi-Lingual School in Washington, D.C. She also served as managing editor of the Georgetown Independent newspaper.
CAMERON FICK of Clark Summit, Pennsylvania is currently teaching middle school science at St. Rose of Lima School in West Philadelphia. Cameron is a recent graduate of Saint Joseph’s University where he majored in Biology and minored in Faith Justice Studies and Healthcare Ethics. In 2011, he was named a student research fellow in The Institute of Catholic Bioethics where he co-authored an article in The Medical Science Monitor. Cameron also served as a volunteer at Lankenau Hospital and with hospice patients in The Shooting Stars Program.
JACQUELINE GLACE of Springfield, Pennsylvania is currently teaching 4th grade at St. Rose of Lima School in West Philadelphia. Before entering ACESJU, Jackie completed a volunteer year with The Appalachia Service Project in Guyan Valley, West Virginia. She is a graduate of The Schreyer Honors College of Penn State University where she majored in Elementary Education in Multicultural Settings and earned her elementary teacher certification. Jackie has served as a religious education teacher in two different parishes and is now working on her middle school certification.
ASHLEY GRANT of Voorhees, New Jersey, is currently teaching 5th grade at Saint Dominic’s School in the Holmesberg section of Philadelphia. Before entering ACESJU, she worked as a legal assistant at an immigration law firm in Washington, D.C. Ashley completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University where she majored in Linguistics with minors in Studio Art and Medieval Studies. While at Georgetown, Ashley was Pledge President of Alpha Phi Omega, the national co-ed service fraternity which assists in service projects throughout Washington, DC. As a graduate of Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, she is happy to be returning to the region’s Catholic schools.
MATTHEW HOLTSHOUSER of St. Louis, Missouri is currently teaching English as a founding faculty member of the Cristo Rey high School in North Philadelphia. Matt is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in English and minored in Urban Education. While attending Penn, Matt was a member of the varsity baseball team, was active in the Catholic Newman Center, and worked for Research for Action assisting in the evaluation of City Year Philadelphia.
ELIZABETH MAVROMATIS of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is currently teaching middle school social studies at The DePaul Catholic School in the Germantown Section of Philadelphia. Liz graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Psychology and a minor in Classical Studies. While attending Penn, she served as a tutor and mentor at Henry C. Lea School in West Philadelphia through the Community Schools Student Partnership.

PETER RYAN of Golf, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, is currently teaching English at Mercy Vocational High School in north Philadelphia. Peter graduated from the University of Dayton with a double major in English and Psychology. Peter has worked as a teacher’s assistant at the Dayton Christian Center and tutored at Ruskin Elementary School.

KATHRYN TRAINOR of Charlotte, North Carolina is currently teaching 6th grade at St. Cyril’s School in East Lansdwone, Pennsylvania. Katie is a graduate of The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where she doubled majored in Psychology and Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She also studied at The Danish Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. While in college, Katie was active in Newman Catholic Student Center.

ALAINA TURSE of Swedesboro, New Jersey is currently teaching English and religion at Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, New Jersey. Alaina has returned to the East Coast from Honolulu, Hawaii where she graduated from Chaminade University as a Psychology major with minors in English and the Performing Arts. Active in many service and student leadership programs, Alaina also worked as a peer mentor and teacher to freshman students at Chaminade. She has been a religious education teacher and a retreat leader with Marianist Family Retreat Center.

MAUREEN WIRSHUP of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania is currently teaching 5th grade at St. Malachy’s School in North Philadelphia. Maureen is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University and also attended Birkbeck College, London. With a major in English and a minor in Secondary Education, Maureen just completed student teaching at Lamberton High School in West Philadelphia. Active in many service organizations, she was also a regular soloist in the Chapel Choir and involved in Cap and Bells, SJU’s Theater Company.

KATHRYN ZENGEL of West Chester, Pennsylvania is currently teaching Spanish and religion at Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, New Jersey. She is a graduate of the University of Scranton where she double majored in Spanish and Theology. Before joining ACESJU, Kathryn served as an Americorps Intern Teacher at Serviam Girls Academy in New Castle, Delaware, where she collaborated on the implementation of the Accelerated Reader Program. She also developed the 5th grade Spanish curriculum and coached the girls track team.
