Assistant Professor, Prokaryotic Biologist
The Biology Department at Saint Joseph's University seeks a prokaryotic biologist for a tenure-track assistant professor position available in August 2013. An earned doctorate in an appropriate area of specialty is expected by the start of the fall 2013 school year.
The normal teaching load for Biology faculty members is nine contact hours, to include participation in a team-taught freshman introductory sequence, an upper-level course in Microbiology, and possible involvement in general education science courses. The area of research specialty is open and postdoctoral experience is desirable but not required. A productive independent research agenda that can include participation of undergraduate and master's level students is essential.
Start-up funds and a range of facilities are available in a well-equipped department occupying recently renovated spaces. Further information about the department is at www.sju.edu/biology.
Applications must be submitted on-line at https://jobs.sju.edu/; click on Employment and follow the instructions. Applications are to include 1) a complete C.V., 2) cover letter 3) statement of research interest and major equipment needs and 4) a statement describing your teaching philosophy.
