2023 Hall of Honor Inductees
Michael Kelly ’74 B.S. ’80 MBA recently retired from C&S Wholesale Grocers as Vice President, Procurement and Marketing. C&S is one of the largest privately-owned Food Wholesalers in the United States.
Mike joined C&S in 2002 after fifteen years with Ahold USA as Vice President of Sales and Procurement. He also worked for Pathmark Supermarkets for many years in various capacities, including Procurement, Supply Chain, and Store Operations.
Mike graduated from Saint Joseph’s University with a B.S. in Food Marketing in 1974 and later received his MBA in Food Marketing. He is a long-time board member of the Academy of Food Marketing and the Food Marketing Educational Foundation at Saint Joseph’s University, having served many years on the board’s executive committee. During that time, Mike was instrumental in shaping the direction of the board and was an active participant in many fundraising events, raising critical funds for scholarships and programs for SJU Food Marketing students.
Mike currently works for Procacci Brothers as Director of Corporate Giving, handling all charity aspects of the Joseph Procacci Foundation. He and his wife, Debbie, reside in Sea Isle City, NJ, and Saint Petersburg, FL. They have three children, of which two are fellow Hawk graduates. In 2024, Mike will become a member of the Golden Hawks.
Ray Schrumpf ’81 B.S. ’89 MBA is a Senior Vice President – Commercial for C&S Wholesale Grocers, the 2nd largest food wholesaler in the United States. Ray graduated from St. Joseph’s with a degree in Food Marketing in 1981 and then earned his MBA in finance from SJU in 1989.
Ray joined C&S in 2000 after working 14 years in various roles of increasing responsibility with Fleming Foods. Ray was Division President of Fleming’s King of Prussia – GM/HBC Division when he left to join C&S. Prior to Fleming, and after graduation, Ray worked for two years in a retail store management program with Jewel-T, the discount grocery operation for Jewel Foods. He also worked in merchandising/procurement roles for the Frankford-Quaker Cooperative in Philadelphia for three years.
Ray has held many leadership positions during his 23 years with C&S Wholesale Grocers. Ray joined C&S as Vice President – HBC/General Merchandise, helping the company to start up this wholesale capability. He moved to California with C&S in 2005 to help lead the integration of Fleming Foods (his former company) when C&S acquired it.
In 2008, Ray was named Senior Vice President – Center Store Procurement and relocated to the company headquarters in Keene, NH. Ray led many procurement initiatives for the company while in this role before moving to his current role as SVP – Commercial in 2018. In this role, Ray leads the overall customer relationship with many of the company’s chain customers.
In the past, Ray was a member of the Board of Directors for GMDC (Global Market Development Center) and served as Chairman of that organization in 2009-2010. Ray, along with Mike Kelly, led C&S’s support of two SJU Food Marketing Citation dinners, and currently leads C&S efforts in support of the SJU Future Food Industry Leaders Program (FFIL). Ray was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and is a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. Ray and his wife, Sue, reside in Newtown Square, PA.

2023 Food Marketing Rising Star
Madison (Smith) Lujan ’17 B.S. began her career as an eCommerce Analyst with Snyder’s Lance, which was acquired by Campbell’s in 2018. In her roughly 6 years with Campbell’s, Madison has served in a variety of sales positions supporting the Campbell’s Snacks division. As an Amazon Customer Sales Lead, she managed $50M+ in annual sales, fostered key partnerships with the customer and internal stakeholders, and grew the business +24% (CAGR) during her 4 years on the account. In 2022, Madison transitioned to a headquarter-based sales role as an eCommerce and Omnichannel Manager supporting Campbell’s retail media search strategy and content deployment across Walmart, Kroger, Instacart, Target, and Amazon. When she returns from maternity leave, Madison will begin a new chapter in her career as Senior Manager, Digital Commerce and Omnichannel Shopper Marketing.
Madison stays involved in the industry and with Campbell’s as a Growth and Development volunteer for NextUp Pennsylvania (formerly known as Network of Executive Women) and as a member of several employee resource groups such as the Women’s Inclusion Network, Black Resource Group, and more. She also participated and earned a certification in the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Future Leaders Experience in 2021.
Madison earned her Bachelor’s degree in Food Marketing and International Business with a minor in Leadership, Ethics, and Organizational Sustainability in 2017. She then went on to receive her MBA in May 2023 from Indiana University. Madison and her husband (and Hawkmate), Justin Lujan (’17), currently reside in Chester County and in July welcomed their son (and first Hawkling), Chase.
