What is the Advertising and Promotions Minor?
Advertising and promotion are critical components of any marketing campaign. When executed successfully, advertising and promotion helps educate consumers on a product or service while increasing sales and informing potential customers on which product or service may be the best fit for them. Led by Saint Joseph’s University’s marketing department, the advertising and promotions minor will equip you with the skills necessary to create compelling campaigns that are creative, cutting edge and incorporate social media, graphic design, marketing, PR and more.
Advertising and promotions can be used in any industry, from real estate to retail to biotech. Even the most well-known brands continue to rely on advertising and promotion to increase sales, exposure and brand awareness. The advertising and promotions minor is offered by Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Marketing, which is dedicated to helping you stand out in the ever-changing career marketplace. You will study cutting edge promotional techniques, consumer behavior trends and digital media programs that will help you create effective and compelling advertising campaigns. The marketing department frequently invites guest speakers to campus who provide real-world advertising experience and offer an array of internship connections for you to apply your knowledge in an office setting.
SJU American Marketing Association
Advertising and promotions minors are invited to join Saint Joseph’s University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter, which is dedicated to helping students connect with alumni, faculty and career experts in various marketing and advertising fields. AMA members attend monthly meetings and networking events with industry professionals, career advisors and corresponding committees and can participate in real-world case competitions.

This minor is not available to marketing majors or communication studies minors. Double minors or exceptions to this policy require approval of the Marketing Department Chair.
